抄録 This is a report on experiential learning that were conducted, in cooperation with Nagareyama-Minami Senior High School, with mixed small groups in compulsory school class lessons where the students actually experienced learning to wear the yukata on their own. The first objective was to analyze the educative effect of the instruction system on the skill achievement. The second objective was to explore the possibility of enhancing the students’ interest towards clothes through learning to wear the yukata.
When we compared the results of the wearing skills of fiscal year 2010 and 2011, we found that the evaluation value given by both the students themselves and the teachers were superior in 2011. Moreover, when we compared the judgment value orders of the investigation items after the experiential learning, the results indicated that students could feel more satisfaction and enjoyment along with the mastering of skills through lessons in small groups.
It was confirmed that students with higher degree of interest towards clothes showed higher interest, concern, understanding, and consciousness towards yukata. It was also confirmed, after comparing the results of surveys conducted before and after the experiment on items concerning yukata, that degree of interest and concern towards wearing the yukata, learning about the design and color combination with the belts, etc., grew higher after the experience even in the group that had shown low interest towards clothes. The result suggests that the wearing practice of the yukata can arouse interest and concern towards both the yukata and the traditional culture, and in addition, has the possibility to influence the degree of interest towards clothes and eventually lead to implementing class lessons on how to put them on.
